About A J Artworld:

A J Artworld is owned by Adam Bennet, a part-time artist, who primarily works in wet and dry mixed media and digital media. He often employs pencils, paints, inks, and bold colours, in conjunction with high resolution printing and re-working techniques, to depict scenes inspired by nature and science.

Adam currently lives in Gordon, Victoria.

About Adam:

Who are you?
I grew up in a quiet rural town on the NSW/QLD border. It was a great place to grow up because there wasn’t much to do so I had to make my own fun, which helped alight the spark of creativity. My father was a car parts sales person and he taught me to draw cars. I have been drawing ever since. In school I enjoyed science, technology, and maths, and after high school I went to Griffith University in Brisbane to complete a bachelor of photonics and nanoscience, where I was fortunate enough to learn from leading experts in the fields of laser physics and quantum mechanics, the latter being especially interesting to me for its surprising accuracy in correctly predicting the behaviour of subatomic systems and describing how they dynamically evolve. I went on to complete a PhD in quantum optics, studying the properties of light and the nature of quantum entanglement. After that I worked as a research scientist, performing novel experiments in the fields of optical physics, optical quantum physics, and laser physics. These experiences have instilled in me a belief that the true nature of the universe lies beyond the veil of present formal understanding, mainly since our technical understanding of gravitation and quantum theory are presently irreconciled. My interest in art is thus cultivated by the knowledge that science cannot always answer every question. Indeed, the role of art is multifaceted, and I believe that one of its purposes is to encourage us to question what we know, or what we think we know about ourselves and about what we perceive as reality. While not every piece of art I create fulfils that role, I find solace in art and in the process of creating tangible things. I strive to find ways to combine science and art, although it is hard, because they are very different. I have lived in several cities around Australia and the world, but I tend to prefer the rural way of life for its open space, fresh air, and community spirit. I maintain a keen interest in physical mathematics and the foundations of quantum theory and gravitation.

What motivates you?
Getting back to basics. Building and creating things that are useful and admired. Embracing the simple. Finding ways to be helpful towards those around me. Being mercurial. Striving to be open to my own ignorance. Finding ways to combine science with art.
